Through this self-expression and self-portrait photo project, I aim to visually portray the intangible yet profound experience of anxiety. Each image captures the raw emotions and physical sensations that define anxiety, portraying the chaos, isolation, and vulnerability that often accompany it. As I navigate this inner turmoil, I also explore the ways in which I confront and treat my anxiety, portraying moments of resilience, self-care, and healing. Through this project, I aim to foster empathy, understanding, and solidarity in the shared experience of mental health challenges.
I chose to do this project in BW 35mm film because film encourages intentionality and mindfulness when composing a shot and it often produces a distinct aesthetic characterized by grain, color rendition, and unique tonal qualities that can evoke nostalgia and emotion.
anxiety
down to water
broken
for rent
is it real?
rush
to the edge
drowning thoughts
insomnia
trapped
walks are cheaper than therapy
breathing
escaping
cleansing
I see, I see
meditating
safe place
this is how I feel
tuned into a tune
cats are good fortune
